Performances At TAB – January 2011 Highlights

The following are highlights of the events happening in the month of January 2011 at TAB in Singapore.

WEEK TWO
4th January – 8th January
BOOTS FACTOR (USA)

Boots Factor has enjoyed much fame as a drummer with American rock band Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, or “SK6ERS” as they are also affectionately known. The group was named 2009 Entertainers of the year by Armed Forces Entertainment and recently celebrated their 1000th show together in April this year. Having ventured into numerous solo projects, Boots Factor has proven to be equally successful as an artist himself, with the release of January Bridges in 2006, Dead Language Demos in 2007 and Part or Execution this year. He experiments a good mix of acoustic, indie and rock sounds, and looks set to conquer the music scene with his original tunes and impeccable talent.

WEEK TWO
11th January – 15th January
JIM WOLF (USA)

Drawing inspiration from the likes of John Mayer, Thom Yorke, Elliot Smith, Radiohead and Stevie Wonder, Jim Wolf takes the familiar archetype in pop music of boy meets girl and boy loses girl in his major studio release entitled Sleeping with Strangers. However, the album, which was given an astounding 4 Star review by USAToday.com, offers both infectious melodies that can be danced and clapped along to, as well as a touch of sensitive that ignites moments of introspection, giving fans a truly authentic music experience. Wolf has spent the past few years working on each track, travelling from the Cutting Room in New York City, with Muti-Platinum / Grammy Nominated Producer Anthony “Rocky” Gallo, to Northern MA, Enoch (Weezer’s Blue Album), Providence RI and finally up to Buffalo, NY with Mike “Bling” Brylinski (Goo Goo Dolls in house producer). He continues to impress, playing packed shows throughout the New England area and enjoying a growing fan base along the way.

WEEK THREE
18th January to 22nd January
BRETT YOUNG (USA)

Born and raised in Orange County California, Brett Young grew up fascinated with Al Green, Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson, all of whose classic sounds would eventually influence his music.

Young’s passion for music grew since a very young age and that interest eventually propelled him to write songs and pursue music as a career. Young has since played in places such as House of Blues to Hotel Cafe, and shared the stage with artists such as Mandy Moore, Tyrone Wells, Jason Reeves, Hoku and many more.

His latest release is a collection of five songs that were recorded over the course of four weeks in Los Angeles California with producer Jim Roach. A fusion of acoustic, folk rock and soul, Young offers the right mix of original tune and honest lyrics that everyone can relate to.

WEEK FOUR
25th January to 29th January
STACY CLARK (USA)

Stacy Clark grew up in a Click Here!">musical family on Grand Island, New York. She taught herself to play the guitar at 15 and began performing at open mic nights, including a popular one at local club Nietzsche’s. She eventually embarked on a national tour at age 19 during which she travelled across the country alone for two months. She moved to Orange County upon graduation and soon released her first EP Unusual in 2006, which scored her an award for Best Female Performer at the 2006 Southern California Music Awards. This was followed by the release of her 2007 full-length Apples and Oranges, thereafter clinching Best Female Performer at the 2007 Orange County Music Awards with a win this year for Best Pop Artist.

Her quirky blend of folk-pop, electronica, and dance music, and the honesty in her songwriting, have seen music critics comparing her to the likes of Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Rachel Yamagata, Rilo Kiley, Paramore, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Zooey Deschanel. Clark’s charmingly idiosyncratic voice and heartfelt lyrics have also won over several of Click Here!">television’s top music supervisors, many whom have featured songs from Apples and Oranges on hit shows as One Tree Hill, The Hills, The Buried Life, Girlfriends, Make It Or Break It, Samurai Girl, The Rachel Zoe Project and The Price of Beauty.

Clark landed the iTunes “Single of the Week” for her song “White Lies” that did over 420,000 downloads, putting her at the no. 7 spot ahead of Lady Gaga for top record sales in a day.
